Insurance for Cafés and Coffee Shops

Cafés and coffee shops, as businesses which serve food and drink to the general public, must be adequately insured to cover the risks associated with doing daily business with members of the public.

If a member of the public is injured on your premises, or becomes ill due to any failure in the supply chain of the food or drink they consume, it is essential that your business has adequate public liability insurance to protect you from the substantial compensation claims that may arise.

In order to minimise the chance of spurious claims being made, it is also important to maintain an up-to-date health and safety policy – see our Resources for Business for more information about your health and safety responsibilites and more.
